WE Tech Solutions Shaft Generator’s Features

  • WE Tech’s permanent magnet shaft generators (PMM) are 5% more efficient than electronically excited synchronous generators (EESG).
  • The shaft generator size is compact and is about half the weight of an EESG type.
  • A variety of solutions such as PTO, PTI, HYBRID etc. can be offered.
  • Compatible with both 2 and 4-stroke engines.
  • Can be used with both FP and CP propellers.

  • Unlike EESG and generators integrated to the main engine which have bearings, slip rings, brushes, etc., there are no moving parts which makes maintenance easy and inexpensive.
  • It is possible to start off with a PTO / PTI solution and later upgrade to a hybrid solution by adding a DC-LINK, battery and other components.
  • The alignment of the shaft and rotor will be done by WE Tech during the commissioning.
  • During the FAT, the manufacturer will use a test shaft so there is no need to provide an intermediate shaft to the manufacturer.

By using the electricity generated by the shaft generator for onboard power during navigation, the operating time of the generator is reduced.

By adding a DC-Link to the permanent magnet shaft generator and high-efficiency inverter, efficiently generated electricity is supplied to heavy consumers such as cargo pumps and thrusters. In addition, by installing a battery, when the main engine is stopped during cargo handling, etc., power can be supplied from the battery to consumers.
